tree and sea turtles

Today's picture involves one of the trees in front of the city library in Linkoping. What I found interesting about this tree is the face shape that it has on its trunk. Especially by night it looked a bit creepy. Since i liked both pictures but in different ways I decided to post both of them. The second one looks a bit scary in my opinion while the first one is clearer.

And since I always want to talk about things that I find interesting in general...I wanted to write about this documentary that I saw on tv the other day and which made me decide not to eat shrimp anymore. I wasn't aware until now how shrimp is caught but it turns out that they just run nets on the bottom of the ocean which also traps other marine animals in the net. Although they free them after they get the shrimp most of these animals will not survive the experience. Dolphins, sea turtles, seals and many other species die so that we can eat shrimp and I find that really sad. In case you want more information about this I searched for an article on this topic. It is up to you to take a stand on this.

Yes...it does look creepy at night....

ps: Thanks for visiting my FP..

Do not forget the farming of salmon. Have a go at Google with salmon and pollution as key words. You will be horrified... Wed 27-Sep-2006 16:20

Best to buy organic. It's raised and produced by people like you and me who really care -- more so than the huge commercial farms, anyway. Thu 19-Oct-2006 13:48

Today's pictures is just me playing around with the camera. I guess sometimes I get bored enough to just take my cam and shoot some pics around the room.

The last photo was taken during a walk around town. The flower was in the garden of the cityhall and I'm ashamed to say that after I took the picture I accidentally broke the plant with the leg of my tripod We had to leave the place in a hurry as you can imagine
------------------------------------------
*listening to: "Sound of Silence" by Simon and Garfunkel (some of its lyrics are written on the mirror in the second picture).

Flower killer! But don't feel bad, maybe more sunflowers will sprout up from the seeds in the dead one
I use Corel PaintShopPro X, but there is a free trial of PaintShopPro XI, so try it out!

Headless horseman...

ok...I'm kind of out of photos to post these days. I'm focusing all my energy on writing my thesis lately. Besides I also forgot my camera at my friend's place for a few days now but I guess I'll get it back today and I'll have more opportunities to shoot some pictures.

I like this picture somehow cause it reminds me of the headless horseman.

*listen to: Michael Jackson "The man in the mirror" (the lyrics are just awesome)

mashimierul, the movie was called Sleepy Hallow! I really liked that movie. It was this movie that came into my mind when i saw the picture first.

chip...it's so great to hear from you! I miss those days and I miss you even more. I hope that I will see you soon

architecture

Today's pictures represent the cityhall of Linkoping, which is a really nice building(especially by night) and a typical Swedish house painted in red. I really like the buildings here especially the ones painted in red. In the winter it gives a great contrast with the white show.

i love the red building too!! it look cool
anyway..thanks for visiting my FP n i really glad u like it.

Patterns

I always like how simple things make nice pictures. Here i was just fooling around with the cam and this is what came out. I was trying to clean up my drawer since i always get stuck with a lot of coins cause i don't like to pay with them. It takes too much time when you pay with coins, although going to the bank to exchange them takes even more time. Oh well...i guess I don't make a lot of sense...but it works for me
-------------------------------------------------------
*listening to: Pat Benatar "We belong" (love this song and even more the lyrics). There is a certain energy about it that i really like.

nice idea there Wed 13-Sep-2006 00:47

Crazy Italian guys

For some time now I am trying to take more pictures of people since i want to learn how to do it. But usually I only have Stefan to photograph(which i'm not complaining about ). This week some old friends were here to visit so I had the opportunity to take some shots of them although they hate the camera and they always told me to shut it off.

Here are some pictures of them ironing some cloths and preparing to go out. A few weeks ago i was complaining that I feel like a granny and never go out. I guess the time spent with these crazy guys this week will make up for all the time i didn't go anywhere . It was great fun to have them around.

I know the second picture is overexposed but I'm interested more in the composition and your opinion about it since as I said millions of times before i have a really bad camera.

-------------------------------------------------------
*listening to: Michael Buble "Save the last dance for me" (I like his style and the song is a classic and a nice one as well)

well, for me controlling the exposure is part of composition... i like number 2... he's doing something there and the other person is looking mean... you got the subtle and 'evil' look in a frame and i think thats cool!!!

ps-those shots of the sky is from my mobile phone

Cathedral Norrkoping

I know that i have a lot of pictures of cathedrals on this page, but i really like the buildings. These ones are taken in Norrkoping and I really like the architecture of this cathedral. I guess that's one thing that I love about Europe: its achitecture, especiall the old buildings.

On a totally unrelated subject...i was watching yesterday an episode of Penn&Teller: Bullshit. I usually like their show and last night's episode was not an exception. In fact i liked it so much that i had to download it. The episode is called "the business of love". So if you want a funny and interesting perspective on love and romance check out this Google video

Really good pictures, like this cathedral as well but have to say that linköpings cathedral has a much more interesting architecture, it shows a older and far more interesting history witch increses the beauty of it... Still a great picture Wed 30-Aug-2006 19:39

when the time stood still...

I've always wanted to do a picture like this one. You see such shots in a lot of places and I wanted to have one of my own. But it didn't come out the way it should have been. Nevertheless i kind of like this pic. To me it inspires timelessness and i can't even explain why.

Love this shot .

Harmony colours and feels dreamy

first n foremost..thanks for viewing my FP adding me to your fav. links.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i also have the same opinion as urs dear.. learn from others by their comments, rite? really appriciate ur comment.

as for ur pic above, i guess it is a nice shot.. the picture brings me to the endless time. the person in the picture seems dosent mind about the time.
as if the time slowly ticking huh? hehe

but i guess the picture will be look different if the person wears bright colour cause overall of the picture seems so green..(just my opinoin)

looking foward to hear from u again.

Rainy night

Today's picture is just a try to do something different. It was really raining hard that night but i decided to go downtown anyways and take some shots with Stefan. We wanted to get a particular picture that we were talking about for days and for that we were standing in the heavy rain taking turns so the other could make the shot. But it didn't come out right so I guess the very wet cloths and slight cold were for nothing. But with more practice I'll get there.Since we were already in town I started to take some more pictures around and this is what came out.

Since this is also a blog and not only a picture album I thought from the beginning that I will talk about my music preferences and just about everything else that would cross my mind and I would like to share. Purely out of my desire to brag that i'm reading a book I wanted to recommend you this book that I just finished. It's called "Reading Lolita in Tehran" by Azar Nafisi and it's a memoir of an Iranian proffesor who talks about the oppressions that women have suffered from the beginning of the 80s in Iran. It's a very well written book that draws parallels between classic books such as "Lolita" or "The Great Gatsby" and the women's life there. Everybody who knows me is aware of the fact that I have problems finishing books but this one I couldn't stop reading. That should say something

Yeah what a night... but it was allso a night of talking and walking something i appreciate

Oh and to answer the other comment: Reading is a means of thinking with another person's mind; it forces you to stretch your own.
